phones

Posted by Grand Poobah On September - 30 - 2006

Took a little while (and I’m oh so paitient) but I found out that my company will reemburse me 50 bucks towards a cell phone. I need to be contactable anytime the line is moving and with what I do I’m rarely in the office so it’s almost necessary…or at least as necessary as I’ve seen a cell phone be. I didn’t think it was too wise to use the same phone for business as we do for personal stuff, and I need it to be on me all the time. I was due for my 2yr trade for a phone anyhow…so we picked up one that sara liked and I added a line for myself.

They both seem like decent phones and after rebate it will cost me 3 bucks….then of course I get to buy the blue tooth shit for it. I don’t know if I will or not…I want a car charger and a case for it, so I will definitly get those. I’m not sure about the blue tooth stuff though. I think mostly it’s a novelty item…but we’ll see. I haven’t found a headset yet that works worth a shit anyhow. The shitter is none of my stuff works on any of these new phones, I had a couple of batterys and a few chargers….have to buy that shit all over again. Pricks!

It also has a port for a micro sd card, and can play mp3z! Seems like just another reason to suck down battery life to me, but being able to expand the memory might be handy. I doubt I’ll buy a card for it, dunno yet.

I sent out an email with an updated number, but if I missed someone that needs it lemme know.

I’m living the bofh.

Thinking about changing the sign on the door to “Mission Control” and moving the “Bat Cave” sign to the lab door.

The hardest part about this job so far is all the damn paper work and knowing what forms to fax to whom for what. It’s wierd working for a company inside another company. Tuff to remember sometimes that no one here is my boss and if they request something done outside of scope I can either do it, flat out refuse or have them contact my manager (in PA) to clear it.

Fixed a german computer yesterday. Only thing I could understand was configure. At first it doesn’t sound too tuff, the pictures and general idea is the same as an english version of windows, but some stuff is in different places. Then when you factor in I had to reload some drivers that I wasn’t sure about in the first place….I was pretty damn impressed with myself.

So far the PC stuff hasn’t been too daunting, couple things I needed to figure out…but that’s the enjoyable part of the job. This thing needs to be simplified though. Just break it down to “tell me what’s broken” “ok, I fixed it”. The rest of it I don’t much care for.

I get to order a laptop for the folks tonight. I think I’ve settled on the dell I’m going to get them (provided it’s still on “special”). Ideally I’d like to have it shipped to me first so I can reload the damn thing then ship it off to them….doubt that’s going to work out though. It’s tuff for me to be around to receive a box. I could maybe have it shipped to work here I guess…hrm..

The car “should” be fixed today. They haven’t been real accurate about their estimates on time so it’s kind of a crap shoot. I’m satisfied with their price compared to other places around town. I can get a 3/50 warrenty tacked on to their standard 1/12 warrenty for a few bucks more. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on that.

DAMN YOU ANDREA!! I’m seeing them everywhere now….

Self chuck: Headline on CNN

I’m a bit torn on this. On one hand football is a ruff sport and you take a certain amount of risk just by playing. If the parents and students are willing to absolve the school of liability then play on. But, I haven’t seen these guys and know nothing about the region they play in. Maybe it is a bunch of 120lb guys going up against 300lb monsters. Lots of schools suffer winless seasons year after year in certain programs, so I wouldn’t think the prospect of losing every game would make the school shut the program down…dunno though. Tuff to say much about it without being right there in the situation.

This getting up in the morning shit is going to kill me. It’s a total mental block, but I just can’t seem to get to sleep before 11. I’ll go to bed, try to sleep…but it just doesn’t happen. I would think that sooner or later I’d get tired enough to just pass out…but that doesn’t seem to be happening. I’ll be nodding all day, then when I get home I get the second wind and have energy all nite. I haven’t been taking any kind of nap at all during the day, forcing myself to stay awake hoping that I will adjust to this schedule. I’m going to have to try and keep it through the weekends for a little while as well, but I’m thinking that’s going to be quite impossible…esp with my beloved bears playing sunday nite this week.

oh well, I’ll either adjust or my brain will melt….
