Feels like a “bitch fest’ type day…

Came across this on CNN.com. It doesn’t surprise me she was jailed…infact I’m all for it. Being a victim of one crime doesn’t give you a free pass on one you’ve committed. The disgusting part to me is a worker denying her a morning after pill because it was against the workers beliefs. That employee needs to be in an unemployment line, clearly they are incapable of doing the job. I wonder how it would have gone over had the employee been an differing religion from the inmate and denied her a bible.

I love listening to people try to give other people advice on computers. “yeah, you just take the side off and see how many slots you have…then go (insert random website) and buy some ram…” I quit doing that awhile ago. I just default to “bring it in, lemme look at it and I’ll help you out”. It’s pointless for a Dr. to explain surgery to the paitient beyond “we’re going to go in and patch/remove/insert something”. Computers are like cars, if you really don’t know what your doing and arn’t willing to possible be without while you try to figure it out….just take it to someone who can. I work for beer.

Expect some down time tomorrow (2/1) as IdeaOne attempts to bring their service up to par. They need to double the speed for me to keep it.

I contacted CableOne and the lady I got today was of utterly no help at all. Yesterday the woman understood what I was asking, understood she didn’t have the answer and had never heard the question before so she transferred me to some other dude. I got his voice mail so I left a message, no call back as of yet. The lady I got today said “everyone usually get’s 1.5, but I’ve heard some of our 3mb customers don’t get that because of the congestion in their area, no mater what package you get…it will be faster then dsl”. /me sighs welcome to “how high speed over cable works 101, please leave common sence at the door”. What I’m asking for them to do, is come out…test the line and see what the highest speed it will give me if everything is optimal (ie not a million people saturating the connection). I’ll deal with some slowdown during prime hours…that’s the nature of cable. What I’m not going to do is setup 3mb, pay for it and find out the line quality will only give me 1.5.

If IdeaOne can give me around 1mb down and 1/2mb or better up I’ll stay with them. The upstream with cable concerns me and I would rather stay with dsl for that reason. We should know by tomorrow nite if I can stay where I’m at or have to move on. I do like the way IdeaOne is setup. Since they are a small company they don’t worry about restricting ports, forcing authentication on the SMTP server, force me to use some PPPoE bullshit connection…and all that jazz. The only real improvement I’d like to see in their service is the way they handle bill pay. I want to be able to have an auto draw setup on a credit card!

IdeaOne is pissing me off now. Out of what is suppose to be a 2mb line, I’m getting around .75 or so. I don’t expect a full 2mb but I did expect at least 1.5…nope. I put a call into them complaining about it and got “well you might be around the end of the loop, we’ll talk to dispatch and have them get a hold of you…do you have an email?” Ta hell kind of customer service is that? To say I’m disgusted is an understatement. How the hell could their service be worse then Qwest? They use the same freekin lines. It’s not like I’m on the edge of town or something, I’m in the middle of several apartments and a residential area. If I’m at the end of the loop…install more equipment! I should be able to pull something down at 100kbs and not affect the general browsing on the other machines at all..but newp. Anything over 50 causes major net suck, and that’s utterly unacceptable. With Qwest I could maintain a constant 70 or so without affecting the browsing machines too much. And even that is too damn low.

I put in a call to cable one, but I want to have the line tested to know what kind of speed I’m looking at before I make the decision to switch. I could drop the phone service to a basic line, then get a 3mb package through cable one and it looks like I will have about the same expense. I hardly want to pay for 3 and see only 1mb or so though…the line needs to be checked first.

If I do switch to Cable again, there should be no down time AT THE TIME OF THE SWITCH OVER. I’ll have the services overlap. Now Cable one gave us some problems before…but that might have been due to improper grounding…hard to say.

God damn I miss midco….fantastic service, beautiful speed and in 4 years it went down twice…and one of them was because of a power failure…hardly their fault.

As the superbowl inches closer the teams will be analyzed and reanalyzed by the same experts that picked Carolina and the Patriots in this yearâ??s big show. As I read what these people type it’s remarkable how much hero worship there is over this manning monkey. Manning is an excellent player…but he’s kind of a little whiner. Letâ??s discuss the game a little bit…

Indy’s D sucks…and sucks hard. You don’t just fall into last place for run defense during the regular season. It is true their defense has picked up in the playoffs, but that’s more the abortion then the norm. They will falter and falter big.

Manning can only score 7 points a posetion. It doesn’t matter if the S is painted on his chest or tattooed…he can only score 7 a possession. That’s assuming of course that he will score every time…which he won’t. The bearâ??s defense will stutter…manning will score, but not each time he has the ball.

Indy relies on wearing out the opponents D, the bearâ??s defense has been on the field waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much over the course of Grossman’s suckage. As a result, the D is use to playing tired; Indy is not going to be able to wear them down like other teams.

Grossman isn’t going to need to win the game for the Bears, although he’s going to have to do more then just not lose it. Just like in the game against the Saints, he is going to have to make a few solid completions. Nothing spectacular…just the lucky shit he’s been getting away with all year along with the wide open routes the receivers proved they could run last week. Plus…he’s due. During the course of the regular season he showed streaks of utter brilliance followed by streaks in his shorts. He hasn’t had a brilliant game now for awhile, he’s due. Manning on the other hand is due for her annual choke session.

The bearâ??s offense must keep their D off the field. Pound the ball over and over and over again. Short 5 yard completions…with a shot here and there -sparingly- down the field. It is vital they turn it into a ground pounding beat down the Indy line game. The bears D is one of the best in the league at generating turnovers, so capitalizing on those will be key. If they can pull off a turnover ball control game like they did against the Saints…Indy has no prayer. On the other hand, if Indy plays like they did against the pats they will come away with empty ring fingers.

The single most important key to this game is going to be Hester. If he runs one back the bears will win…if he doesn’t they will lose…it’s that simple.
