We’re down to 3 episodes left in this saga and although we’ve gotten the answers that we started this season anticipating, we have so many more questions it almost feels like a wash.
The main questions right now revolve around Starbuck and “what is she”. After seeing the episode last night, my theory is that she is a 1/2 cylon 1/2 human “thing”. My reasoning behind this is the song she “composed” or was taught by her old man. It’s the same song that brought four of the last five cylons together, and one of them was playing it on “earth” before it was decimated. Beyond that, the notes required to finish the song were written by Hera, the current 1/2 breed. Sarbuck being full cylon wouldn’t be interesting enough. I suppose something about ‘other cylon travelers” would explain how her old man came to caprica from earth and bread with a human. Maybe she comes from a history of cylons and the ones that originally contributed to her were years before her time.
There is also the “harbringer of death” title the base ship hybrid cylon gave her. This could be interpreted at this point to mean not the total distruction instantly of the human race, but the gradual breeding out of the purity of the human race. Once the humans are sufficiently crossed with the cylons, both races would essentially be “dead” in favor of the new hybrid race.
With only 3 episodes left, it feels like they are going to force all the information at us too quickly. I’m really hoping it doesn’t turn out to be a sloppy wrapup of the series, it’s been so good to this point and they knew the beginning of shooting for the fourth season that it would be their last. From what I’ve read online, there doesn’t appear to be plans for a movie to wrap things up. The movie in the works appears to be a prequil that will show the cylon motivation for wiping out the humans. Although that could possibly be wrong…I don’t see quite how it could be soooo far off base.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Action comics #1 is going up for sale. The unique thing about this specific comic is that it has not been restored. It’s comics like this one that gives me hope for my old spidey comics.
