It has been a semi annoying problem for a few weeks and I haven’t sat down to take a look at it until today. For whatever reason, I had suddenly lost the ability to send email via my windows mobile 6.1 smart phone. I assumed it was a port conflict between my web host and the account setup on the phone. I checked things out and sure enough, there was a port change. They changed their outgoing port to 26 instead of the standard 25. While there is no obvious place in the setup that says “port”, you can change the port by putting <outgoing mail server address>:<port> in the outgoing mail server address line. I did this and still couldn’t send…hrm…
I did some research online and found there is an MS knowledge base article about this here. Apparently when the first sync fails, the account somehow gets corrupted. By downloading and installing the CAB found here, the problems are suppose to be solved. Sure enough…it did it for me.
Be aware, the phone will reboot immediately when installing this fix. No warning or confirmation box what so ever.
