There are lots of strange people in this world that want to do some sick things to kids. As parents, we try to teach our children right from wrong, but they are going to make some mistakes…some with potentially life threatening consequences. It is vital that we teach our children to not be mindless sheep, think proactively and when you get in to a bad situation…get the hell out.
There was an article in the in-forum about a kid that was sexually assaulted multiple times by a person she met electronically. My opinion is going to be unpopular, but it is the clear truth to anyone that can look at the situation objectively.
It’s my opinion that a 13 year old kick should not have a cell phone. They communicated through text messages…so she had access to one. If it was a friends, then clearly the parents can’t really do anything about it…but I would bet it was her cell.
He visited her so the parents probably couldn’t do a whole lot about that. At 13 you have to give them a bit of freedom.
She was abused multiple times on multiple occasions. This is where her responsibility to the situation kicks in. The parents need to instill in the child a sense that she is not to be a man’s sex toy and if it is “abuse” then she needs to say something and take an active role in preventing it. What I am curious about is if it is abuse as per the legal definition of an older man having sex with a child, or is it abuse as in she was an unwilling participant. The mention of the belt around her neck makes it seem like she is unwilling, but at this point are we dealing with a child who is making things up to not incur any wrath from her parents or the legal system?
I hate seeing stories like this, but we need to remember that our children are not as innocent as we’d like to believe. They are curious and may try to initiate some of this illegal behavior. Don’t take from this that I’m condoning what the adult did. I think he should be drug out and shot if convicted. I’m just saying we need to take an active part to prevent this where possible on the child’s end.
